Multicultural Psychological Support Service For Non-Local Students
Multicultural Psychological Support Service for Non-Local Students
To strengthen support for non-local students, the Wellness and Counselling Centre (WACC) of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) has launched a programme to provide multicultural psychological support services for non-local students. The programme includes individual counselling services, sharing support workshops, and suicide prevention initiatives, aiming to enhance students’ mental well-being, facilitate their adjustment to university life and cultural transitions, promote help-seeking behaviours, and foster a supportive and inclusive campus environment.
Sharing Support Workshops and Suicide Prevention Initiatives
Sharing Support Workshops provide opportunities for non-local students to connect with peers, share experiences, and develop coping skills to navigate academic, social, and cultural challenges. Facilitated by professionals such as counsellors, social workers, and expressive arts therapists, the workshops cover topics including cultural adjustment, mindfulness, and interpersonal relationships, fostering resilience, self-awareness, and emotional well-being.
Suicide Prevention Initiatives promote mental health awareness, early identification of psychological distress, and help-seeking behaviours, with the aim of fostering a supportive and caring campus environment.
