It is truly an honour for me to be selected as Best uBuddies of 2024, and when I tried to piece together my journey in uBuddies last year, it would be impossible for me to overlook the service team that I am a part of, Treehole.
One of the most memorable moments was us organising and promoting the PSN during freshman orientation day in early August last year. Despite the summer of university students being filled with internships, trips and various commitments, the dedication of Treehole team members shone through as they returned to campus to promote our team, and as a Senior in charge, I couldn’t ask for more. It was such a pleasant surprise seeing you guys proactively filling baskets of souvenirs and then leave the booth to find freshmen to converse with, despite most of you being introverts. Being a salesperson for us is hard, interacting with strangers and acting energetic. I have done it, I know, so please applaud yourselves for stepping out of your comfort zone, and I truly believe that this experience is something that you can bring along in the future.
Though the booth might be a special moment during the past year, I really want to take a little bit more time to talk about the bulk of Treehole’s work, running the IG account. Every time a post was submitted to us and a response was written, I myself and the other Treehole senior, Doris, always get back to you with such lengthy comments, nitpicking over the slightest details, and usually, such back-and-forth occurs more than twice. Despite us having rather high expectations, witnessing the improvements between the individual responses throughout the year, I am so glad to see your endeavors to improve, and I hope you could pass on this knowledge to the juniors that joined after you, just like how my seniors pass their knowledge to me. I think this is, in my mind, the romantic part about Treehole team, it is all about passing the torch. One year ago, my seniors passed the torch to me, and now, it is your turn, seniors!
